I don’t know about you, but I love collecting music of all kinds. My iTunes account is a collection of pop, punk rock, classic rock, soundtracks, classical, indie, and country. Between my laptop and the family desktop computer, I have over 2,300 songs, and amongst those songs, you can find some of my favorites. I typically collect favorites based on genre and then group them together in playlists. Out of all my favorites, the most listened to are Mumford & Sons. And, because they just released a new single today, I have a story about Mumford for you and a couple of my all time favorite Mumford songs.

Well. The song ended, so I turned down the volume and the guy was kind of bracing himself on the hood of my minivan and when he finally collected himself enough to speak (although he was still laughing pretty darn hard), he just goes, “I thought you were listening to rap, so I was going to ask you to keep it down because my kid’s in the car, but then you rolled down the window and it’s just this hardcore banjo and I couldn’t keep it together.”
That being said, here are two of my favorite Mumford & Sons songs:
- HOPELESS WANDERER: This is probably my all time favorite Mumford song (and the one that I was jamming to in my story). It's got the hardcore banjo that I love and the lyrical genius this song presents. Basically I love it and you should listen to it. (And all of the other music by Mumford & Sons. And then report back to me and tell me what you think.)
- LITTLE LION MAN: Language warning for this one as there are several f-bombs throughout the song. This one is also my favorite. It's something that I listened to quite a bit following being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2012, and the lyrics continue to challenge me. The line that says, "Your boldness stands alone among the wreck," reminded me of myself, I suppose, and the fact that during the months following my diagnosis, I felt rather alone. It also contains hardcore banjo and I am a huge fan of hardcore banjo.
